GEO: recommended in AI answers
Become part of the AI answer
When a customer asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI who to call, the answer names a few businesses. GEO is the work of making yours one of them.
Ascent Vision's GEO (generative engine optimization) service works to make a service business the one AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers mention and recommend when a customer asks who to hire. It runs alongside SEO, and leads that arrive from an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Perplexity are tagged as their own source.
What you get
- Built to be named in AI answers for the questions your customers ask, not just listed in search
- Your business described accurately: what you do, where, and for whom
- Leads from AI assistants tagged as their own channel, so you can see what they bring in
- A monthly read of where AI assistants mention you, and where they do not yet
Who it is for
- Service businesses whose customers ask an assistant for a recommendation before they buy
- Businesses that rank on Google but are missing from AI answers
- Owners who want to know how AI assistants describe their business today
What we will not do
- Promise that any assistant will recommend you. No one controls what an AI model says.
- Plant fake reviews, fake articles or fake accounts to sway an assistant.
- Report a mention as a win unless it is real and can be shown.
Questions
What does GEO stand for?
GEO stands for generative engine optimization: the work of making a business visible and accurately described inside answers written by AI systems such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode. The term comes from a 2023 research paper by Aggarwal and colleagues.
Can Ascent Vision guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my business?
No. No company controls what an AI model says. Ascent Vision works to make a business the clear, accurate and well-supported answer to its customers' questions, then reports where assistants do and do not mention it.
Do I need GEO if I already do SEO?
They overlap but are not the same. SEO aims for a ranked link; GEO aims for a mention or recommendation inside an AI-written answer. A business can rank well and still be left out of AI answers, which is why Ascent Vision measures the two separately.
