How do you report wrong information an AI assistant gives about your business?

Use the feedback control on the answer itself, if the assistant has one. Google, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Microsoft's Copilot Chat each describe one on their own help pages, such as a thumbs-down or flag icon. Say exactly what was asked, what was wrong and what is true. A report may not change the answer, so also keep your own information correct and keep a dated record.

Where each maker says to send feedback

For ChatGPT and other assistants, look for a feedback control on the answer itself or a help page from its maker.

AssistantWhat its help page describes
Google AI OverviewsA thumbs-down icon at the bottom of an overview, then "Report a problem" and a category; the three-dot menu is another route. Google says the feedback includes your most recent search and its results, and warns that the settings it describes may not match your current experience.
GeminiThe Bad response icon below a response, with an optional reason and comments, or Settings & help, then Send feedback, on the web. Google says the conversation, with your prompts and Gemini's responses, is added to the feedback.
ClaudeThe thumbs down button, which Anthropic describes as a way to say a response was unhelpful, or writing to the address on its help page.
PerplexityThe flag icon below the answer, or a ticket through its support window. It asks for the URL of the query and a description of the error and the result you expected.
Microsoft Copilot ChatThe Thumbs Down icon, with the issue described in detail. The FAQ applies to Copilot Chat in Outlook for Microsoft 365 and Teams, so the consumer Copilot app may differ.

What to put in the report

As general advice, a report is easier to act on when it is short and about one fact:

  • The exact question as it was asked, the assistant and the date.
  • The wrong detail, copied from the answer.
  • The correct detail, in one line.
  • The address of your own page that states the correct detail.
  • No customer names or private details, since Google says Gemini feedback carries the conversation.

A report is not a fix

A report goes to the maker, and no one can promise it will change what an assistant says next. Claude's help page says that when Claude works with web search results, the quality of its responses "depends on the underlying sources it references". As general advice, a wrong detail can sometimes be traced to a page the answer used. The related answer on whether AI assistants get facts wrong covers what you can correct yourself.

Keep a dated record

Write down the date you sent each report, the assistant and the words you sent. After some weeks, ask the same question again in a fresh conversation; one try proves little, as the related answer on why ChatGPT gives different people different answers explains. The related answer on checking what ChatGPT says about your business sets out the questions and what to note, and the related answer on what to say when a customer repeats something wrong covers the customer conversation.
