Why is my business not showing up on Google Maps?

Most often the profile itself is the reason, and you can see which from inside it. Google says only verified businesses can show their info on Maps and Search, so an unclaimed or unverified profile may not appear. A suspended profile, or one Google treats as a duplicate, does not show either. A service-area business that hides its address shows only its service area, and Google says rankings for a new business can take up to a month to appear.

First, check whether it is missing or lower down

Google's help page says to sign in to the Google Account linked to your profile and search Google Maps for your business's name and city. As general advice, also look from a phone that is not signed in, as a customer would.

If the business appears for its name but not for the service, it is on Maps and the question is order, which the related answer on why a competitor shows up above you on Google Maps explains. Google also says a profile with inaccurate info might not show for relevant searches in your area.

Reasons a profile does not show at all

  • Not verified: Google says "Only verified businesses can show their business info on Maps and Search", and that verification reviews take up to 5 business days. The related answer on how to verify a Google Business Profile covers it.
  • Suspended or disabled: Google says such a profile will not show to other users until the issue is resolved, and sends a notification to the Google Account that manages it. The related answer on why a profile gets suspended covers the appeal.
  • A duplicate: Google allows one profile per business and says a duplicate will not show on Search or Maps, for example when a verified profile already exists for the same business.
  • A hidden address: Google says a service-area business can choose not to show its address, and the profile then shows only its service area.
  • New or just edited: Google says rankings for a new business can take up to a month to appear, and an address edit usually shows in about 10 minutes but can take up to 30 days.
  • Not eligible: Google says an online-only business that offers no in-person services is not eligible for a Business Profile.

When there is no profile at all

If you find nothing, Google's verification page says you may need to add the business, or claim an existing profile you have not claimed, and then verify it. If someone else owns a verified profile for your business, Google says you can request access from the current owner; the related answer on what to do if someone else controls your Google Business Profile covers that. Who can have a profile is in the related answer on what a Google Business Profile is.

Do not start a second profile

Google says a business that moves should update its existing profile rather than create a new one, and should not create separate profiles for each service. As general advice, a new profile made in frustration can end up treated as the duplicate.

If Maps is fine and the problem is the ordinary search results, the related answer on why a business is not showing up on Google covers those checks.
